Shakudō can be treated to develop a black, or sometimes indigo, patina, resembling lacquer. Unpatinated shakudō visually resembles bronze; the dark colour is induced by the niiro artificial patination process, involving boiling in a solution, generally including rokushō. Sheet can be shaped into anything your skills and tools allow. Commonly used to as material to be stamped as its thickness is perfectly consistent, however can also be utilized to cut intricate shapes; simply glue a print of your intricate design to the sheet and use a jewellers saw to follow the print as a guide. This sheet is half hard meaning it has a medium grade ductility. The sheet has a modern and sleek look that is famous amongst jewellery enthusiasts.
